Depression Before Period

Depression Before Period

Depression and severe mood changes before periods? I am 19 years old and just recently noticed that this is happening to me too. It seems like I get really depressed before and about a month before my period, have frequent mood swings and feel completely miserable most of the time.

How did all this start? I was always the most cheerful girl in class. I felt great during school and at work. Then one day my mum told me I would be starting school the next week, so I planned to have some fun before I went.

Normal life went on until my period came around. I started to feel really low and very miserable, to the point where I felt like vomiting. This happened for a week. After that I decided to look into what was going on and found out that my mood was the same way. I knew something was wrong but didn’t know what.

My mood swings started to creep up when my period came around. My mood and energy were extremely low. I just didn’t know what was happening to me.

Suffering From High Blood Pressure

I started to notice that I was losing weight as well, which was no surprise considering I was suffering from high blood pressure. I also noticed that my breasts were sore and my periods were different. My first pregnancy was terrible, I was sick all the time, had pains in my stomach and belly. I was sick for weeks, didn’t drink anything except water for a while and couldn’t eat any solid foods at all.

So my doctor took some blood tests to find out if it was a possible disorder or not. He concluded that it was not so much a mental condition as it was a physical one, and that depression is not related to your body. There was no need for medication at that stage. However the problem wasn’t cleared up by medication and I am still having problems with depression before my period.
